最初看到这则新闻是国内的一个水处理论坛上，看了看英文的原版新闻。由于Pentair是上市公司，在一则上市公司的新闻公告里面提到的。
May 28, 2008--Pentair, Inc. (NYSE: PNR) and GE Water & Process Technologies (NYSE: GE) announced today that they are engaged in discussions to establish a joint venture to combine their respective global water softener and residential water filtration businesses. Under the current framework in discussion, Pentair would own approximately 80 percent of the joint venture interests, and GE Water & Process Technologies would own approximately 20 percent. The combined businesses had 2007 net sales of approximately $450 million. It is not currently contemplated that significant cash contributions would be required from either party to form the joint venture.

A.O. Smith Corp., the Milwaukee-based maker of home water heaters, recently announced that it also wants to develop new technologies in home water filtration.
Pentair's residential filtration division has headquarters in Brookfield, with 260 employees. It acquired the division in 1995. Pentair's research labs in Brookfield rank among the company's "primary global research centers" alongside those in New Delhi and Shanghai, a company spokeswoman said. All three Pentair divisions in Wisconsin have their own engineering labs.
GE Water, meanwhile, acquired its residential water subsidiary in Glendale in 2003, which it uses as its global headquarters to develop and build residential purifiers sold around the world. It employs 120.
这个里面提到了AO.史密斯最近宣布发展家用水处理市场的新闻，和此次合并相关的业务pentair有260人，GE有120人。
目前来看，在控制阀市场pentair的Fleck和GE的Autotrol 业务将在新公司的业务之下，如此而来，在控制阀市场，新公司将具备绝对的领导力和市场控制力度，由此看到未来fleck和GE控制阀的价格上调也应该是必然因素。
至于在家用市场，和GE的合并相信是两者应对未来怡口、AO史密斯、3M等企业的威胁的一个措施，这个合并的起因主要是在美国市场的不断竞争和次贷危机后美国住宅市场的萎缩，但文中已经谈到是全球的业务都要合并，至于未来对国内市场会有什么具体的影响，现在还不得而知。
在最新的一篇报道里面也提到了 滨特尔海外业务增长的新闻：Pentair's growth starts overseas
其中谈到Everpure在海外市场取得了不错的增长，如欧洲，印度和亚洲；这个里面中国都没有单独列出来，排在印度之后，看到everpure在国内的市场还是没有启动。The maker of Everpure water filters has been on a growth tear overseas, pushing its water treatment systems in Europe, India and Asia. Thanks in part to the weak dollar, this international expansion has given Pentair a significant earnings boost at a time when its domestic business is struggling.
另外，在这个收购的新闻发布后，Janney Montgomery Scott宣布将Peatair(NYSE: PNR) 的股票从“买入”调整为“持有”。
另外，有一点我坚持的是，水处理市场的并购大战才刚刚开始。
